Sprinkle in the need to understand employee needs and behaviors as benefits consumers, and the picture gets more complicated. At Mercer, we’re seeing employers starting to think differently about how they can uncover blind spots that can help them prioritize for impact, while embracing ESG (environmental and social governance) by including HR and benefits. Additionally, with attraction and retention a top of mind issue right now, employers and organizations who demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability as a workforce strategy have an edge. The younger half of the working population said it was important that companies take a stance on issues that matter to them, with 71% seeing the climate emergency as the single biggest issue facing their generation.

Speakers: Kelly Blue – Senior Principal, Mercer’s Data, Technology and Analytics Team Kelly is a Senior Principal in Mercer’s Health business and a member of the Data, Technology, and Analytics (DTA) team. Kelly employs data to derive insights and surface stories, providing employers with actionable recommendations to accomplish specific strategies. In recent years, her focus has included persona development for use in program design, targeted communications, and measuring outcomes – including analysis of benefits behaviors by key diversity groupings to understand how an employer can increase optimal outcomes across the population. Earlier in her career, Kelly was a lead actuarial consultant who specialized in defined benefit retirement plan consulting. Kelly has a degree in Mathematics, and a master’s in Actuarial Science. She was formerly an Enrolled Actuary and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. While her responsibilities for Mercer are national, Kelly is based in Indianapolis with her husband and two daughters. Her life outside of work is spent cheering her older daughter at swim meets, volleyball games, and theater shows while trying to keep her younger daughter entertained until she’s old enough to engage in her own activities! In the rare moments between, Kelly pursues watercolor and other artistic endeavors. Amber Boehm, MBA, CEBS– Principal, Mercer’s Center for Health Innovation Amber Boehm is a Principal on Mercer's Center for Health Innovation (CHI), a group of specialists within Mercer’s U.S. Health business dedicated to developing innovative solutions for employers of all sizes. Supporting CHI’s overall innovation goals, Amber leads solution and research teams to develop forward-looking solutions and content that contributes to Mercer’s innovation strategy, informed by employer priorities. Some topic areas that Amber is currently working on are: diversity, equity, and inclusion for employers and healthcare vendors, sustainability/environmentalism in benefits, and the future hybrid-workforce and its impact on benefit strategy. In addition to her work on CHI, Amber works directly with clients on their benefits strategy and daily operations – bringing her CHI work and knowledge with her to support those clients, ensuring they have direct access to all of that innovative work to meet their goals and objectives. Amber holds an MBA from Seattle University and has the CEBS designation. Prior to joining Mercer in 2017, she spent over 10 years at The Boeing Company. On a personal level, Amber resides in Washington State with her husband and their menagerie of pets. During the pandemic, she became a plant lady, complete with a spreadsheet to manage plant care within her home. |
