Family Medical Leave and Paid Family Leave Webinar

Registration
This course will provide producers an introduction to statutory paid leave programs (medical/disability leave and family leave plans).  The presentation defines the general characteristics of statutory paid leave coverage and discusses how statutory paid leave programs differ from the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and short-term disability (STD) insurance.  This discussion will focus on employer compliance responsibilities in each jurisdiction, private plan options and administration.

Learning objectives:
  1. Understand the various laws that may come into play during an employee’s absence from work due to illness or to care for a family member.
  2. Understand how state mandated paid family and medical leave is similar to, or different from, federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other programs.
  3. Understand Employer options for compliance with state mandated paid medical and family leave as well as employer responsibilities.

Speaker:

Susan Murphy – Leave and Disability Expert - Prudential
Sue Murphy has more than 20 years of group insurance experience with expertise in disability and paid medical and family leave products. In addition to monitoring paid family and medical leave legislation, Sue launched Prudential’s private plan solutions for various state mandated programs, including New York Paid Family Leave and Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave, among others.
